Jase Summy wins, beats Ethan Fang in final

There was not much doubt before the Western amateur, but Jase Summy made sure that he was going to be part of the United States Cup team next month at Cypress Point in California.

Summy, an upward senior of Oklahoma, won a Bedlam final on Saturday at Skokie Country Club outside Chicago, leading the Oklahoma State Rising Junior Ethan Fang 6 and-5 to win the Western amateur. Summy, ranked ninth in the world amateur golf course, won the third in the world’s lover, who earlier this summer won the British amateur and is already part of the Walker Cup team.

Although the victory did not officially give Summy a place in the team, he is a shoo-in to select after the conclusion of the American amateur, who begins on Monday August 11 at the San Francisco Olympic Club.

“It is the greatest victory in my life – by far,” said Summy. “I knew that my game was there, but I hadn’t completely pierced. Today, I did it. ”

“It was definitely the biggest crowd I played in front. My game was tend. It was a question of execution. I felt confident when I arrived, and it was transported during the week.”

Summy’s victory was the biggest margin of victory in the history of the Western amateur for an 18 -hole championship match, and he also obtained an exemption in the NV5 invitation of the Korn Ferry Tour 2026.

He won the second and third holes, and while Fang won the sixth to return to 1, Summy dominated from there. He won the 8-10 numbers then 12-13 to close the match.

Summy became the first earlier to win the Western amateur since Charlie Coe in 1950.

And now, Summy turns his attention to the American amateur, with an invitation all but obvious to the Walker Cup team which awaits the conclusion of the largest amateur event in the world.
