The Hungarian GP marked the last race before the F1 summer holidays, and Hamilton hoped to bounce back after a series of difficult results. But the tight and twisted arrangement of the Hungarorings – often compared to Monaco without the walls – has once proven to be a challenge.

Throughout the qualifications, Hamilton is struggling to find the pace to a necessary touch to move forward. Its Ferrari SF-25 lacked stability in the delicate intermediate sector, leaving it more than three tenths of more time to progress in the third quarter.

Despite the configuration changes after training, Hamilton could not extract the performance he needed and sounded audible when his engineer confirmed the elimination.

The emotional radio message highlights a difficult phase of the last season of Hamilton before going to the Ferrari rival team next year.

Since his last podium earlier in the season, qualification inconsistencies and traffic problems have hindered his ability to fight near the front, especially in the circuits where the position of the track is essential.

The Hungarian general practitioner has always been one of the strongest tracks in Hamilton – he is eight times winner on the site – but the result of Saturday marks one of his lowest qualification performances on the recent memory circuit.

With a notoriously difficult overcoming in Hungaroring, Hamilton will have to count on an aggressive strategy or a potential weather touch on the day of the race to raise the order. His sorrow above the radio summarized the feeling of missed opportunity: another qualification session has disappeared, and another difficult battle to come.
