Ruben Amorim said he had “no doubt” that Manchester United can reach the summits of the Premier League and the glory of the Champions League, echoing the bullish comments made by his player Luke Shaw during the club’s pre-season tour.

United finished 15th last term in a lamentable season, its lowest league has finished since 1989-1990 and lost the Europa League final against Tottenham to finish without silverware.

But Amorim, who said that the “most difficult part” of his work went to games “knowing[ing] That we are not going to be competitive ”, we are convinced that things could be returned in its first full season as a manager.

Addressing various publications on Sunday before their friendly against Everton in Chicago, Amorim said: “I know it is a massive gap in where we are finished – but it’s Manchester United. We have to return to Europe.”

When asked if United could win the Premier League and the Champions League, he said: “I have no doubt.

“There are certain things that you cannot buy that this club has: pedigree, history, fans. With all these things, if we have a different culture, we can return home.”

His comments echoed Shaw, who said earlier in this tour, “the goal must be to win the Premier League,” he said. “I know people will wonder after last season, but it must be that.”

Shaw also made a comment according to which there were “no trains” in the United team, with a major trigger of players who take place and several expensive signatures towards the exit or disgrace.

Exiles Jadon Sancho, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrrell Malacia were not included in the pre-season team and had the possibility of exploring the possibility of moves, while Marcus Rashford was discharged in Barcelona on loan.

Amorim gave an explanation of the situation of the situation to Old Trafford. “There are players who clearly show that they don’t want to be here and it’s normal. They are not bad and I’m good. I’m not bad and they are good,” he said.

“If the market closes and they are Manchester United players, we, as a club, must treat them under the same conditions. But at the moment, I am just working with the players who, I think, will stay and the other guys try to find a solution for their careers.”

De Garnacho, who suddenly fell into disgrace at the end of last season, Amorim said: “He is a really talented boy and sometimes things do not work. You cannot explain specifically what it is.

“But I have the feeling, I think it is clear that Garnacho wants a different thing with different leadership and I can understand that. So I think it’s not a problem.”

The 40 -year -old man obviously sees his mandate as a long -term project. He said, “I want to be Manchester United director for a while,” said he was at the club for “20 years”.

“And I took five years to choose this club, so I don’t want to fail,” he added.
