Newton – For Sam Mayer, Iowa is twice as pleasant.

Mayer, 22, from Franklin, Wisconsin, retained Reiley Herbst in extension in June 2024 hy-VEE perks 250 at Iowa Speedway. On Saturday August 2, Mayer won his second consecutive victory in the race of the XFINITY series after a late restart.

Mayer won his first Iowa Speedway race in July 2019 when he won an Arca Menards race. He ran here for the first time at the age of 16. At the time, “Ripping Laps around Iowa” was one of the fastest tracks on the Arca calendar.

“The speed of fire we had today was the best of all the cars I think,” said Mayer. “I could be aggressive on the restarts. Really aggressive, win this track position. Having new tires at the end, and short-term sessions, I was able to go there.”

The native of Cedar Rapids, Joey Gase, who will also present himself in the race of the Nascar Cup series on Sunday with a car on the theme of “King of the Hill”, started n ° 33 and finished n ° 27.
